The Roots: Right On (Feat. Joanna Newsom, STS)

Cool new tunes courtesy of The Roots new long player - How I Got Over - their ninth album, released this week. This track, Right On features an old Joanna Newsom track Book of Right-On, which appeared on her 2004 LP The Milk-Eyed Mender and bounces along to one of the best beats I heard in ages ?uestlove's drumming is outstanding all over this album. How I Got Over was recorded during The Roots' tenure as the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The quality control button is firmly set for excellence and the guest list is equally impressive - John Legend, Monsters of Folk, Dirty Projectors and Raw Dice particularly shine bright in a very upbeat and easy-going hip-hop extravaganza. Lashings of downtempo neo-soul and splashes of folk blend in perfectly with Black Thought's vital raps and ?uestlove's beats. A sure-fire contender for the album of the year stakes come December. Get yourself over to iTunes now, listen and buy, or just buy it and enjoy in full from the start, you won't be disappointed. OUTSTANDING - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
