Email: neo@neoloop.comLove this funky tune from Norwegian musician Thomas Dybdahl, taken from his latest LP What's Left Is Forever. The percussion really digs into the groove and has that retro-soul feel, like an old Al Green baseline. The funk guitar stabs away at toe-tapping melody supporting Thomas Dybdahl's soulful croon.
Brosteinsjungel is one of the tracks on the B-side from Tarjei Nygård's latest Single Hardkokt, a disco marathon that just keeps going, the unrelenting bubbling groove takes over the senses and complete carries you off, pausing only for the introduction of chopping organs sampled from Seventies classic Why Can't We Live together by Soulman Timmy Thomas. The other tracks Hardkokt and Katapult are banging too, mixed by key man Prins Thomas.
Icelandic songstress Emilíana Torrini's new album Tookah is out this week, she's had a varied career so far topping the charts with the 2009 song Jungle Drum from Me and Armini LP, she co-wrote Kylie's Slow, sung on Paul Oakenfold's Hold Your Hand, lent her vocals to the Thievery Corporation and performed on Gollum's Song for Peter Jackson's film The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
For Tookah Emilíana goes back to her native Iceland to record an electronica, bossa nova pop record. For her seventh LP Torrini produces the kind of easy going pop that Kylie used to put out in her hey day. Speed of Dark is a punchy blast of pure pop brilliance, Torrini's voice sounds better than ever, pure pop of the highest calibre. Recommended.

Yet more Scandinavian cosmic-disco from another Norwegian space cadet, Daniel ‘Blackbelt’ Andersen completes the trilogy of nu-disco Lp's with Linstrøm and Prins Thomas this month with his new album Blackbelt Andersen 2, released Nov 06, 2012 on the Full Pupp label. A longtime player in Norway's dance music scene Andersen brings us a slight twist in flavour - Mann på Mars delves deep into the cosmos with a layer of balearic house and latin vibes giving his sound an altogether sun-flecked feeling. So, that's your comic space disco sorted for the foreseeable future then.
Following up from fellow Norwegian and collaborative associate space-disco maverick Lindstrøm we have a the perfect partner LP in Prins Thomas's new offering - Prins Thomas II. Cosmic-disco never sound so healthy, Prins takes this particular space jam into a hypnotic Lil Louis French Kiss' vibe, the tuba bubbling under the pulsating rhythms and a melody of I feel love Donna Summer, absolutely kills it!
More of the same on Prins Thomas II Out now. Buy it on iTune click here
Smalhans is the new album from the Norwegian space disco man. VÅs-SÄkÅ-Rv is my favourite on the first few listens, Each track is named after a traditional Norwegian dish, check it out.
Really enjoying the new album of singles and b-sides from The Radio Dept. – Passive Aggressive: Singles 2002-2010.
Not a band that I have really researched into but always enjoyed the odd single. This compilation really showcases what a great pop band they are and gives you the opportunity to dig deeper into the Swedish bands catalogue of great songs. The best tracks I think come from last year’s dreamy Clinging To A Scheme album. Including this track, Heaven's on Fire, which I never get bored of.
Nice remix of Lykke Li's I Follow Rivers by Dave Sitek. Original version is from her forth-coming album entitled Wounded Rhymes, the enigmatic Swedish indie singer/songwriter returns with her trademark ethereal sound. set for a March 1 release via Lykke's own LL Recordings. With this track and the amazing Get Some it's already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2011.
Great new material from Swedish singer Lykke Li, out on 1st November on 7" Inch vinyl. A pounding drum beat with so much energy, this rocks! Lykke's voice is as mesmerising as ever singing the dark lyrics - Like the shotgun needs an outcome, I'm your prostitute your goin' get some. This is available together with the B-side Paris Blue as a free download from Lykke Li's website.(Click Here) She states If you love it, feel free to spread it among Friends and Lovers! You can also order the tiny shiny vinyl from Rough Trade store in UK.
A beautiful sound builds on a simple marimba beat and looping handclaps, cascades of synths and soaring strings burst into life on this short but epic little track. Glasser, a one-woman orchestra aka Cameron Mesirow releases her debut LP on 28th September.
If this track is anything to go by it should be good, recorded in Los Angeles and Stockholm she worked closely with producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Foreign Born, We Are Scientists) and Fever Ray’s Van Rivers and Subliminal Kid.
Nanna Øland Fabricius is the daughter of a mother opera singer and a father theatre organist, born in Denmark now mixing it with the Brooklyn music scene. Recording under the moniker Oh Land, this track is taken from her forthcoming EP on Epic Records in the US. French producer Yuksek transforms the europop original into a much heavier dance-floor stomper, keeping Nanna's delightful vocals and mashing-up the 80's synths.

Get your groove on for some Nu-Disco extravaganza now! New from the vanguard of NU-Disco, Norwegian producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm together again with Christabelle Solale. Baby Can't Stop comes on like a lost Quincy Jones backing track from the Thriller sessions, but while you half expect Michael Jackson to enter with a Hee Hee, instead we get Christabelle Solale dead-pan vocal style mixing an arty chanteuse and disco diva. It all sounds 1980s funk-pop but still keeps a foot in 2010 and it never completely slips into retro pastiche. The whole album Real Life Is No Cool is quite possibly a major contender for all the album of the year top tens. Lindstrøm & Christabelle works like Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer bringing a fresh and very catchy, danceable sound for the dancefloors of today. Nu-Disco has now firmly arrived and Real Life Is No Cool is the staple of which all future-nu-disco will be measured. Get your dancing' shoes on we're going for a ride! Released last month - Highly Recommended.

The perfect companion to Sun Airway's track below, A stunning tune from Scandinavian popsters Choir Of Young Believers. Uplifting harmonies soar over bongo rhythms and dramatic soundscapes, absolutely captivating. Released back in February this year and re-released again in September, taken from their album This is for the white in your eyes.
The original track from Miike Snow's debut album is real stand out tune and one of the top 20 of the year so far. There have been many remixes of this track but Mark Ronson gives it a complete make over and takes to the tune in to an entirely different direction. A light ska beat, a wonky organ and Ronson's signature brass is superb. (There are a few versions of this mix on various blogs which has a bit Lady Ga Ga overlapping the end, but this is the complete version).
Quirky pop, up beat tune from the summer of love, a right little catchy number!
Famed for their tune Around The Bend that featured in an ipod advert, now on the scene with a full album 'Fruit' which is full of up-beat pop tunes. The Asteroids Galaxy Tour are a Danish pop band, vocalist Mette Lindberg and producer Lars Iversen. Formed in 2008, the band are now based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Hanging on to last few sunny days of summer with this sizzling groove.
Ralph Myers synths swirling around sweat vocals from fellow Norwegian Caroline Ingeberg. Last feel good hit of the summer! Check out the new album Ralphorama! Appetite 4 Self-destruction - out now!

Some more Scandinavian pop, this time with a jazz flavour, featuring Little Dragon's Yukumi Nagano on vocals, a now classic album from the Swedish jazz poppers, Koop Island is an easy listening open-top car journey through the mountains. Cool stuff.
Phantom legs and Blinking Pigs, Haunting me, My long lost love and the memories of You.
Bizarre kooky lyrics for a bright and breezy electropop song. Taken from the Swedish band's charming 2nd album Machine Dreams. RECOMMENED!
Little Dragon is a band, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Consisting of Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano (vocals, percussion) and her close high-school friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass), and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards).
Swedish electronic jazz duo Koop's albums Waltz for Koop and Koop Islands feature Yukimi Nagano's vocals on several tracks.
Folktronica acoustic melodies from the excellent Norwegian duo of Erlend Øye and Eirik Bøe.
It's been five years since their last album, we've had the brilliant side project of Erlend Øye's The Whitest Boy Alive and his numerous guest appearances to keep us happy. But I'm very excited about their new (3rd) album, Declaration of Dependence, due October 20th. This single sets us up in anticipation of what's to follow. I've been a big fan of their intricate and subtle guitar melodies since their debut album back in 2001. This song doesn't disappoint, an instant foot tapper with sing-a-long chorus which has become the trademark sound of Kings of Convenience.
Kings of Convenience is an indie folk-pop duo from Bergen, Norway.
This is a song for no one, but all of you!
I hadn't really listened to this band much, until Mr. A Black @ablackcanvas told me it was a killa album. I fell in love with tune straight away, perfect pop with a funky drummer beat. Hey the sun is shining again.
Miike Snow are a Swedish band, who formed in 2007. The band consists of singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt, and the producing team of Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, also known as Bloodshy & Avant.
Thundering and lightning big time in London tonight.
Some haunting melodies playing on my ipod as battle through the wind and rain turning my umbrella inside out. This remix isn't too far from the original, Karin Dreijer Andersson's vocals searing through the mix like wolf in a storm.
Fever Ray is a solo album by The Knife's Karin Dreijer Andersson from Sweden.
Pure celestial bliss to take you far away, lost in ethereal beauty.
This is like church music without the religion, a beautiful piece of music that sweeps through your head picks you up and takes you to a state of pure bliss.
Riceboy Sleeps is the upcoming ambient album from Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson and his boyfriend, Alex Somers. The record isn't out until July 20
