Hot Natured: Alternate State (feat. RóisÃn Murphy)
Hot Buttered Soul
Last years massive dance floor filler Benediction showed that Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C and Ali Love had what it takes to produce great dance tunes with an eye on the pop charts. With their debut long player Different Sides Of The Sun, they try and evolve the success of Benediction and sometimes they succeed with flying colours. Isis (feat, The Egyptian Lover) is a magic carpet ride for the dance floor, gliding along the deep house beats with a sprinkling of middle-eastern highlights. Recent single Reverse Skydiving (feat. Anabel Englund) doesn't quite reach the heights of Benediction but comes in as the subtle little sister with an infectious slow bass-heavy rhythm. Anabel Englund features on a couple of other tracks, the brilliant driving beats of Mercury Rising and album closer Emerald City. This track Alternate State has been on repeat since I first played it, Róisín Murphy back to her Moloko best and Hot Natured providing another effortlessly irresistible baseline and funky bubbling synths to crown off an excellent debut. Recommended.
